We lived in caves, working together, hunting together, and protecting our families and companions against animals and other natural dangers.
We emerged from our caves a long, long time ago and progressed to become the creators of magnificent cities in the hope that we will be safe in our houses, townhomes, and towering skyscrapers.
But we are not safer:
We have Human trafficking and pornography, child soldiers, child labourers, and many other shameful embarrassments of our supposedly intelligent species.  Those who say “I myself am not doing these things” are still disgraceful because the question is: what do we do to stop it?  If nothing, then I am enabling the actual perpetrators.
We are so involved with our daily work, gathering hours for vacations and saving for retirement, that we have forgotten, or do not want to know about what is going on around us. It is as if the wars, the hunger and the destructions around us are invisible. We like to pretend that these far-away problems are not our business. We live our repetitive lives without considering that every one of us is indirectly contributing to these disasters through our daily choices and activities.  Through our ignorance, carelessness and the selfishness of not wanting to know, we fail to educate ourselves about what is happening to our only home planet.
If we don’t examine the facts and consider a way out, we can never extract ourselves from the mess we have created.  The only way we can call ourselves intelligent is to devote ourselves to the real welfare of our human race and keeping our home safe; the only home livable in our solar system, and as far as we know with our present knowledge, in our universe.
